Narrative & Messaging Strategy: This phase requires working closely with a project designer to develop the overall narrative and messaging direction for a website. It culminates in a client-facing presentation that outlines strategic content recommendations and initial copy concepts.
Copywriting: In this phase, the writer takes the foundational work from the narrative strategy and develops it into polished website copy that is SEO and AEO optimized. This encompasses everything from the first draft to revisions and the final handoff to the design team.
Writers may be engaged for one or both phases, depending on their skillset and the specifics of each project.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust track record of writing website copy across various industries, particularly for businesses with complex offerings. They must be able to adjust their voice and tone while maintaining clarity and sharpness in their writing. Additionally, a solid understanding of the relationship between copy and design is essential, along with experience working within or alongside design teams.
