Job Responsibilities

As a Payments Risk Analyst II, you will be taking ownership of the end-to-end risk controls for ACH payments. This critical responsibility involves scaling the prevention processes to adapt to the rapid growth of the business. Your investigative skills will come into play as you:

  • Drive detection and mitigation strategies for fraudulent deposit activities by implementing advanced targeting logic against potential bad actors and high-risk behaviors.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis of fraud performance, measuring the effectiveness of various fraud detection rules, assessing the financial impact of your decisions, and presenting data-backed recommendations to leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Growth, Data Science, and Engineering, to develop and improve risk management strategies.
  • Investigate any anomalous customer and transaction behavior, identifying monitoring gaps proactively to avert potential losses.

Required Skills and Experience

To be a strong candidate for this role, you'll need a combination of relevant experience and technical skills, including:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in risk management, fraud prevention, or payments operations, with at least 2 years focused specifically on payments fraud prevention within a fintech, e-commerce, or traditional financial services environment.

  • Proficient skills in using SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets, with a proven ability to independently manage and complete analytics projects from end to end.

  • Experience utilizing identity-provider data and fraud-detection tools to implement and optimize risk controls.

  • Proficiency in measuring the financial impact of fraud-related decisions and effectively communicating the findings to both senior leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of ACH payment processing and familiarity with applicable NACHA rules is highly advantageous.

  • A responsible approach to leveraging generative AI, ensuring there is human oversight to improve workflow efficiency and quality.

Salary and Benefits

The base salary for this position varies depending on the location, with the expected annual salary range being between $135,320 to $159,200 USD. The total compensation package may also include additional components such as equity, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits packages that cover medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan.
