Responsibilities of the Electrical Design Lead

• Technical Design and Scoping Support: This includes reviewing complex project scopes to ensure feasibility, supporting project scoping escalations, and advising on diagrams in collaboration with drafters and permit designers.

• Technical Partnership with Sales: The Lead will clarify edge-case designs and customer constraints prior to proposal finalization, while providing timely, high-confidence answers on installation approach. They will also flag any risky or non-standard conditions early to preempt possible installation delays.

• Guidance on Permitting and Plan Sets: Responsibilities extend to ensuring accuracy in permit plan sets and providing feedback to enhance diagram quality. Collaboration with the Head Electrician and permitting teams on local jurisdictional requirements is also key.

• Support for Installation Teams: The position involves reviewing projects for completeness before they are handed off to installation operations and working closely with install teams to ensure any projects needing further verification are flagged.

• Knowledge Management: The role contributes to knowledge creation by developing technical FAQs, reference guides, and installation readiness checklists, while also helping expand scoping libraries and internal playbooks with best practices.

• Continuous Improvement Contributions: The Lead will constantly look for opportunities to simplify and standardize installation processes and procedures, as well as address gaps in scoping logic and recurring issues.

  

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate:

• A Licensed Journeyman Electrician certification with at least 5 years of hands-on residential experience.
• A solid knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the ability to interpret code relevant to real-world situations.
• Experience in a software-based work environment, comfortable with tools like G-suite and/or Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

Further, it is preferable for candidates to demonstrate:

• Experience in a high-growth tech company or startup environment.
• Over 10 years of residential experience, ideally in areas like L2 EV charging, service upgrades, load management, and smart panels.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with reviewing plans and scopes in digital platforms (HubSpot, Dropbox, Figma, etc.).
• A strong attention to detail without compromising efficiency.

Work Locations and Compensation

This role offers flexibility as it can be based remotely or in one of the following cities: Chicago, Denver, or San Francisco. The salary for this position ranges between $75,000 and $90,000 annually, along with equity options.
