Kong is seeking a Staff Solutions Engineer - Commercial to join their team. This full-time position is primarily remote and is based in the United States. Job Description

The role requires a combination of technical skills and client management abilities. You will not only be promoting the Kong API/Connectivity Management platform but will also be engaging with clients and guiding them through their journey of adopting cutting-edge connectivity practices. The work involves close collaboration with sales teams, supporting them in demonstrating the value of the Kong solutions to customers. Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting field sales in explaining the Kong platform to clients, thus enhancing their understanding of its benefits.
• Building and nurturing trusted relationships with clients at all stages of the sales lifecycle, starting from initial product reviews to full-scale implementation.
• Managing Proof of Concepts (PoCs) during the evaluation process, ensuring all client needs are comprehensively addressed.
• Taking inventory of customer satisfaction across the assigned accounts and ensuring that they are fully content with the service received.
• Prioritizing customer needs and coordinating with internal teams (support, product, and engineering) to ensure confidence in servicing those needs effectively.
• Creating technical documentation necessary for DevOps, service engagements, and implementations.
• Supporting top-of-funnel marketing initiatives, including but not limited to creating blogs, hosting webinars, and taking part in trade shows and various events.
• Performing any additional tasks assigned by your manager.

Required Skills

To be eligible for this position, candidates are expected to bring the following skills and experience:

• 7+ years experience in software engineering and/or sales engineering management within a SaaS, Open Source, or Enterprise Software environment.

  

• A solid understanding of cloud computing trends and open-source business models.

• Excellent listening and communication skills, allowing you to lead discussions confidently with Product Managers, Engineers, and Executives.

• A demonstrated passion for working in a high-profile, fast-paced startup culture.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other cloud-native platforms.

• Familiarity with APIs, CI/CD automation, and AI technologies.
