The Senior Technical Writer role is designed for individuals who possess strong proven writing skills. The Senior Technical Writer will:
Understand the product delivery life cycle and track the progress of documentation within it.
Plan, author, and develop high-quality documentation for complex projects. This includes a variety of guides such as:
Document application process workflows specific to assigned features.
Gain comprehensive knowledge of product features, ensuring an intricate understanding of how they relate to other applications.
Organize and track documentation tasks using an issue tracking system while monitoring defect tracking for documentation errors.
Gather information through various methods, including research, interviews, application testing, training, and team meetings, to establish accurate and thorough product documentation.
Facilitate meetings with stakeholders such as solution leaders, product owners, and scrum team members to comprehend documentation needs.
Actively participate in Technical Publication team committees and task forces, offering mentorship to inexperienced writers in technical communication skills.
Maintain best practices for documentation user experience and quality assurance across the department.
Create special reports and knowledge shares, showcasing leadership by acting as a team lead on projects.
Candidate requirements for this position include:
Academic Credentials: BA/BS or MA/MS degree in relevant fields such as Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Instructional Design, or comparable experience. Certification in Technical Communication is a plus.
Experience: 6 to 10 years of full-time technical writing experience, ideally within software development environments related to healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceuticals. Familiarity with U.S. healthcare vocabulary and regulations (like HIPAA and Medicare) is preferred.
Content Management Proficiency: Experience with enterprise-level content management systems and structured authoring tools like oXygen is essential. Knowledge of markup languages, especially XML with DITA standard, is strongly favored.
Exceptional organizational, time management, and decision-making skills are critical. The candidate should also exhibit excellent communication capabilities, able to modify presentations according to the audience's needs.
Altera Digital Health provides a competitive salary range for the role of Senior Technical Writer, set between $74,598 and $88,026 per year. The company adheres to local and federal regulations regarding salary disclosures for prospective employees.
