Tilt is searching for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) specifically for their APAC operations. As a part of the Tilt team, the new hire will join a rapidly expanding sector focusing on innovative lending practices that leverage machine learning and other modern technologies to redefine access to credit. The role is crucial as it directly impacts the lives of many customers, as Tilt aims to create a new credit system that acknowledges the financial capabilities of their clients beyond standard credit scores.
This is a full-time position that will involve operations on Sydney time or APAC hours, making it essential for applicants to be located or willing to work effectively during those hours. The company embraces a virtual-first teamwork culture, allowing collaboration across various regions. Employees start with a Work From Home (WFH) reimbursement to set up their home offices effectively.
In this role, the selected candidate will have to:
Define the APAC Infrastructure Architecture: The role is not restricted to maintenance; instead, it will require designing and managing the entire Azure infrastructure for Tilt's APAC operations, covering compute, networking, storage, identity, containerization, and hosting applications.
Manage Cross-region Connectivity: This means taking accountability for network paths that connect local partners and headquarters. Responsibilities will also include managing site-to-site VPN tunnels, DNS, and certificate management to ensure seamless operations.
Lead Migration & Hardening Programs: The SRE will oversee infrastructure migrations safely and at scale, particularly when handling sensitive customer data. Being a proactive leader in the PCI-DSS hardening program will be part of their duties.
Respond to Incidents: The new hire will lead incident responses during APAC hours, ensuring a methodical approach to identify root causes, manage post-mortem assessments, and implement durable fixes. A follow-the-sun on-call posture will also be a requirement.
Continuous Platform Improvement: They will be responsible for enhancing reliability, ensuring cost-efficiency in Azure usage, and maintaining a robust alerts system while being actively involved in security and compliance integration.
Influence Team Standards: The candidate will raise the engineering bar through collaborative efforts and code contributions, also using AI tools to optimize workflows.
To be considered for this strategic role, candidates need to possess:
A minimum of 5 years experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or comparable roles, with a focus on production systems.
Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code, particularly with Terraform. Essential to have hands-on experience in Azure or comparable cloud environments like AWS or GCP.
Strong background in networking technologies including VPNs, firewalls, IP allow-listing, DNS, and TLS management.
Proven ability to lead incident responses and take ownership of systems with a solid understanding of compliance standards like PCI-DSS. Experience in the fintech or financial services sectors is a plus.
Fluency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python, coupled with expertise using Docker, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Familiarity with AI tools and using them to enhance workflows would also be beneficial.
