The successful candidate will take on several important responsibilities, including:
Leading the technical direction of the Product API team by influencing system architecture and sharing knowledge through mentorship.
Collaborating with product and client engineering teams to deliver GraphQL APIs that ensure optimal user experiences while maintaining clear client-server separation.
Taking ownership of critical product subsystems such as recommendations, search, and notifications, while simultaneously improving the reliability and performance of the API infrastructure.
Driving improvements in scalability and maintainability across all endpoints, ensuring quick response times and consistent availability.
Collaborating with data science teams to enable experimentation and optimize API performance using analytics.
To be considered for the Lead Backend Software Engineer position, candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
8+ years of software development experience, with at least 2+ years in a mentoring role.
Proven experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs at scale, with strong skills in NodeJS, Ruby, Golang, Python, or similar languages.
Extensive experience with cloud computing environments and modern deployment technologies, particularly Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
A deep understanding of API design principles, performance optimization, and caching strategies.
Familiarity with various data systems and making data-driven decisions, with experience in both relational and non-relational databases.
