About Ideate Labs UX Apprenticeship Program

Ideate Labs, a pioneering tech organization based in Manhattan, New York, offers an exhilarating UX Apprenticeship Program. Each year, two aspirants are selected to participate in a comprehensive 4-month UX design course held during the fall and spring seasons. This program is especially curated to equip apprentices with hands-on experience, as they delve into end-to-end UX design and research processes by working on a startup idea of their choice. Successfully navigating these challenges enhances their prospects to captivate potential employers in their targeted industrial niche.

The primary aim of the program is to cater to women, immigrants, and POC, deemed as minorities in tech, and propel their career into the booming field of UX, offering them gateways to six-figure salaried roles. The apprenticeship is a tremendous opportunity to progress without financial obligation as participants engage with the program free of charge. Moreover, the interpersonal growth and career coaching continue even post-program, with up to three months of additional one-on-one UX career support.

Apprenticeship Requirements

The apprenticed program at Ideate Labs welcomes fresh graduates and those transitioning into a UX career domain with open arms. Basic prerequisites for participation include a passion for UX-centric roles—encompassing UX research, UX design, product design, or service design—and a commitment to spending 5-10 hours weekly on program deliverables. Attendance at weekend lectures, which enrich understanding of the end-to-end design course, is mandatory. Furthermore, apprentices are expected to remain open to mentoring feedback and willing to refine their design output continuously.

Skills and Learning Outcomes

  • Building digital products and services from infancy to maturity, entailing full product and feature scoping alongside comprehensive project management.
  • Undertaking target market identification to strategically position products for success.
