About the Role

The Communications Coordinator role is integral to the Marketing & Communications team at Food Banks Canada. The individual in this position will work closely with the Internal Communications team to support the development and dissemination of communication materials to both internal staff and the Food Banks Canada network. Additionally, the role involves supporting the External Communications and Marketing teams to ensure all materials are effective, engaging, and consistent with Food Banks Canada's brand.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Coordinator will assist with various tasks, including:

• Collaborating with the internal communications team to draft and post content on the organization's intranet, and assist with producing and distributing network daily and weekly e-blasts and monthly newsletters.
• Ensuring that all communication materials adhere to Food Banks Canada's brand guidelines.
• Assisting with administration and coordination tasks related to Food Banks Canada's learning management system and webinars.
• Supporting the external communications team by creating content (social media, blogs) and providing backup for external media monitoring duties (managing media inbox, daily news distribution).
• Assisting marketing team efforts, including supporting key initiatives, campaigns, and website updates.
• Helping with the translation process for internal and external communications throughout the organization.
• Collaborating with other departments, following internal processes and timelines.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a post-secondary diploma or equivalent in communications, marketing, or journalism and a minimum of 2 years of experience in communications or journalism. Bilingualism in English and French is required, along with strong writing and editing skills. The ability to manage time and projects effectively, along with strong technical competencies in WordPress, CRMs, Microsoft Office Suite, and Canva, is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong project coordination abilities, and the capability to work as part of a cross-functional team, exercising diplomacy and good judgment.

Working Conditions

This full-time position requires working Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and evening work. As it is a remote role, the candidate can be based anywhere in Canada, although occasional travel within the country may be required.
