The role of the Cloud Architect focuses primarily on designing, securing, and scaling modern cloud solutions that support high-impact federal initiatives. In this role, you will get the opportunity to:
Design and implement secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions.
Lead cloud modernization and migration efforts across enterprise environments.
Develop cloud architecture standards and best practices.
Partner with various teams to ensure compliance with federal security and regulatory requirements.
Support IAM (Identity and Access Management), encryption, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and cloud operations.
Assess technical risks, architecture tradeoffs, resiliency, and performance optimization.
Translate mission and business needs into scalable cloud architectures.
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity (or equivalent experience).
At least 4+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure architecture, or related roles.
Hands-on experience designing cloud solutions, preferably in AWS (such as EKS, EC2, RDS, S3) and exposure to Azure for disaster recovery and resiliency.
Strong skills in Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation tools like Ansible.
Understanding of cloud networking, compute, storage, IAM, security groups, monitoring, and infrastructure design.
Familiarity with cloud security architecture, comprising IAM, encryption, secrets management, logging, and vulnerability management.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, or CIS benchmarks.
Experience in Infrastructure as Code practices, using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
Strong documentation, architecture review capabilities, and stakeholder communication skills.
While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give candidates a competitive edge:
Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty, or Azure Architect.
Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture principles.
Previous experience supporting federal government agencies.
