Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and coordinating the activities of the design team, which encompasses CAD/BIM, engineers, and expert resources.

  • Liaising with the client's team for all design-related issues and decisions, participating in meetings, and providing technical opinions when necessary.

  • Reviewing design documentation to ensure all work adheres to industry standards and requirements.

  • Coordinating the quality aspects of electrical sub-systems based on established project principles.

  • Maintaining and developing the competency of the team through assessments, training plans, mentoring, and support for junior team members.

  • Supporting the senior management team in implementing processes for safety assurance and technical verification, promoting sustainable design, and fostering innovation within the team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific, or Engineering subject or equivalent training/experience.

  • Chartered Engineer/Technician status or equivalent professional recognition.

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) or Engineering Manager (CEM) position within major infrastructure or transportation projects.

  • Proven experience managing design interfaces and leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • A background in railway engineering focusing on Building Services or Major Stations.

  • Strong understanding of the multi-disciplinary design approach and the ability to deliver projects of high quality throughout all design stages.

  • Familiarity with engineering software tools such as Trimble/Amtech Pro Design, Dialux, or Relux.

  • Knowledge of UK design standards, with an emphasis on Network Rail, HS2, and TfL requirements.
