Responsibilities

The core responsibility of the Aerospace Metallic Materials Engineer will be to support operations surrounding both existing and emerging technologies in aerospace applications. Key Duties

The engineer will be expected to:

  • Develop and assess materials design and provide guidance on processes based on foundational principles. This includes:

    • Aluminium
    • Steels
    • Titanium
    • Different grades, along with heat and surface treatments of the listed materials.
  • Contribute to applications such as:

    • Power systems, including propellers and rotors
    • Landing gear
    • Hybrid primary and secondary structures
  • Develop Manufacturing Engineering processes, and engaging in joining and assembly techniques.

  • Conduct assessments for galvanic and anti-corrosion methods, as well as repairs and rectification, along with non-conformance analysis.
  • Collect feedback and perform analysis ensuring alignment with design goals while considering manufacturing and supply limitations.
  • Support materials and process control initiatives.
  • Create approved lists of materials and processes.
  • Offer bespoke materials and process guidance, developing internal standards that align with engineering and product development goals.
  • Plan and execute test campaigns tailored to support all the above activities.

Profile of the Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering (or other related fields).
  • High competence in the relevant technical areas outlined.
  • Previous experience within the aerospace or high-performance automotive sectors is highly desirable.
  • Shop floor experience is also seen as a plus.
